Wireless Network Infrastructure for Colleges
Project Overview
Expansion and update of existing physical network infrastructure to improve campus wireless.
Waukesha County Technical College (WCTC) has undertaken a phased upgrade to its existing physical network infrastructure. Phase 2 of the project called for extending the existing network throughout all areas of the WCTC campus and replacing outdated technology components with high-capacity and performance equipment. CC&N installed Sumitomo’s new 48-strand air and nitrogen glass blown fiber optic system. A high-speed, copper cabling infrastructure was also designed and installed, thus providing users with higher, reliable, and responsive network access throughout WCTC’s campus.
Along with a restricted time frame due to the academic calendar, CC&N had to use innovative design and installation techniques required by Sumitomo’s 48-strand fiber optic system, which just recently was released. CC&N is currently the only company in Southeast Wisconsin certified to install this new system.
